Samsung announces new 49-inch Odyssey Ultrawide gaming monitor with HDR2000 certification and 240hz refresh rate

Samsung has confirmed that they are releasing a new ultrawide gaming-oriented monitor later this year. The Odyssey S49AG95NC is a 49-inch absolute unit that is also capable of 240hz variable refresh rate with support for both the AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync technologies.

The Samsung Odyssey G9 S49AG95NC is the complete name of this model and it will be released before the end of 2021. The monitor is painted white on its back and the specs have been listed on Taobao.

The Odyssey G9 gaming monitor comes with a 49-inch VA screen, 5210 x 1440 dual QHD screen resolution, 1000R screen curvature, 240hz variable refresh rate, 1ms minimum response time, NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync support, VESA DisplayHDR 2000 certification, TUV-certified, 95% DCI-P3 color coverage, 10bit screen, 2048 MiniLED backlight local dimming zones, 4000:1 contrast ratio. The monitor will also comes with two DisplayPort inputs and one HDMI port.

The HDMI port will most probably be a 2.0 version, as otherwise the Chinese website would've listed the HDMI 2.1 version instead. This info remains to be confirmed and we will post an update as soon as we get more info on all the specs that Samsung has put into this monitor. Note that when the monitor gets released we expect it to cost more than $4000 considering its size and the features it comes with.
